big bang for small buck October 26, 2009 Jason H (duluth, mn USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
damn good projector, bought it in january & its still working with the original bulb, but sadly the bulb already has over 2500 hour on it....that speaks for itself. (Time to buy another bulb)
Amazing Projector, Best Price May 30, 2009 Chas (Jersey Shore) I'm a math teacher. I use this projector in my classroom every day, for about 3-4 hours per day. It has withstood classroom use for (so far) one month with absolutely no problems. I keep the projector about 15 feet from the screen (i use a bedsheet nailed above the blackboard so i can have a larger screen that everyone can see easily without having to duck or try to look over other students' heads). At this distance the screen is very large and even 12 point font can be easily read from the back of the room.
I'm sure you know how bright a classroom tends to be. I can keep all my lights on and the students can still see everything. I usally turn off half the lights, though, which greatly improves picture quality.
The only drawback is the lack of a zoom. I have to keep the projector in the middle of the classroom to get the desired screen size. I had to buy long cables to run to the middle of the room, and tape everything down, which is a bit of an eyesore if you're a purist (which i'm not). Annoying, but i found a way to make it work for my set-up, so i'm sure you can find a way to make it work for you.
That said, this was the best priced projector on Amazon, and so far i haven't noticed my projector once in the classroom (which, by the way, is a good thing. i shouldn't ever be thinking about the projector while i'm teaching).
Update: It is now the end of March 2010, and after 10 months of daily use...IT STILL WORKS! I've had it on for nearly 5 hours a day every day during this school year, and still no problems. Great value!
Fabulous Projector For This Pricepoint! November 26, 2008 Michelle Carver I am a Cub Scout leader and I borrowed this from our pack for a sleepover for my boys and the color and clarity were amazing! I was in a huge room (about 30' x 30') and we sat it back about 20'-25' projecting it onto a wall with the "screen size" being about 15'-18' wide and the image was bright and sharp, I was amazed. The kids felt like they were in a movie theater. I'm definitely going to buy the newer version for personal use. Before the sun went down we did watch a few educational DVDs in a very brightly sunlit room and it was still bright and clear considering the brightness of the room. I'm for sure buying one.
High Quality in cheap price August 1, 2008 Ritesh Gupta (Bellevue,WA) I purchased it with $100 MIR, and this has been my first projector, but I have seen movies on my friend's projector which are costlier then this but poor in picture quality then this one. It has sharp brightness and I can see movies even when room lights are ON. It comes with remote with many good features like Lamp hour usage, blank screen, preset picture modes and many options to customize it. So far no problem and have used for 100 hrs...happy movie watching!!
Projector June 7, 2008 Charles Moser (Ukiah, CA) I know it will give me good service. The only problem it has is the projected image is a little askew. It is just for the work I do and I will just live with it. The lumins are great! There is no need to turn off lights in the room to get real bright readings.
